Kent Life Prize Drive

APCsport Rally Team driver Andrew Coley recently had the pleasure of meeting two winners from Kent Life Magazine's 'Help a Kent Life' competition at Brands Hatch, where Andrew works as a motorsport instructor.

Kent Life, a leading lifestyle magazine in Kent, set up a competition in association with Brands Hatch circuit owner Jonathan Palmer to reward deserving people with a day of motor sport activity. Readers of Kent Life can nominate candidates who they feel deserve a rewarding day for the hard work they do for other people.

From the first list of candidates, the two winners were Ann Hudson and Jack Brookson, volunteer workers at Demelza House Children's Hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent. Demelza House cares for children with life limiting diseases from birth to age 19 and could not run without the generosity of people like Ann and Jack.

APCsport driver Andrew was called in by Brands Hatch to 'do the honours' with a full on session of rally driving in a Peugeot 206 Cup Car for the worthy winners. Neither had tried their hand at motorsport before and both acquitted themselves admirably considering the wet and slippery conditions the typical British summer had delivered!

Following their own sterling efforts at handbrake turns and flat out driving, Andrew took them for a spin at full rally speed, which was met with huge smiles and a little nervous laughter! The day was rounded off with a fantastic lunch overlooking the historic Brands Hatch Indy Circuit as Britain's top racing drivers fought over a seat in the A1 Grand Prix team. A memorable day for all involved, well done to Ann and Jack from all at APCsport!

Action shots from the day can be seen in the 2005 Gallery.
